English Learning | President Joe Biden: The 2023 Interview | 60 Minutes
Today, I watched Joe Biden’s interview on the 60 Minutes show. The message presented is deeply misleading. He is labeling “Hamas” as terrorists simply because they have chosen to defend their land. He overlooks the long-standing issue of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory over many decades. Israel has imposed a harsh siege on Gaza for an extended period, turning Gaza into the world’s largest open-air prison. When the people of Gaza decide to resist this oppression, it is being characterized as terrorism. Is this a just assessment?
Furthermore, Israel continues to bombard Gaza relentlessly, resulting in the tragic deaths of thousands of civilians, with half of the victims being innocent children. Biden justifies these actions as necessary to eliminate Hamas. There’s another problematic claim: He alleges that “Hamas are cowards hiding behind civilians.” This assertion is nonsensical, considering that Hamas is currently engaged in combat within Israel, fighting to reclaim stolen Palestinian land. If they were truly cowards, they would never have ventured into Israel to engage on the ground.
