From beginner to advanced, taking my English skills to completely new levels
My story with English
I have been learning English for so many years, however, I have been always afraid to take the IELTS exam. For years, I underestimated my language skills. In December last year, I decided to take the IELTS exam. Surprisingly, I scored 7.5 which makes me eligible to apply for any graduate program at any university of my choice. However, the bad news is the section-specific scores are pretty imbalanced. What I mean is that I scored 9 out of 9 in reading, which is an impressive achievement as it is the most challenging and time-intensive part of the exam. As for the listening section, I scored 8.5 which means that I am nearly a native English listener.
However, I scored only 6.5 in both speaking and writing. These results suggest that I do not have any problem with inputs, but I am facing difficulty when it comes to English output. I can consume English with ease, but I am struggling to produce it clearly and confidently. That’s Why I decided to practice producing English on a daily basis. The goal is to immerse myself in the language so my brain can absorb it gradually.
To that end, I decided to share with you everything that I learned. I will commit myself to writing one blog post every day for the next 90 days straight. I will share some video and text resources, discussing a specific topic in native English. After that, I will write down the most important new phrases and expressions that I learned. The next step will be writing an article of a minimum of 250 words to describe the topic in my own words. Speaking is the next logical step here, I will record myself explaining and discussing the main points that have been highlighted in my article. After that, I will pass the recording to an AI program, that will analyze it to give me constructive feedback on how to improve clarity and fluency.
